Taphos 2014 represents the 7th International Meeting on Taphonomy and continues the tradition of taphonomic meetings that have been regularly held in Spain since 1990 and then in Tübingen (2011). The aims of these meetings have been to integrate all aspects of current taphonomic research from both palaeontological and archaeological context: taphonomy in palaeontology, taphonomy in archaeology and anthropology, taphonomy in the analysis of patterns of evolution and extinction, taphonomy in biostratigraphy, theory of taphonomy, taphonomy in palaeoecology and sedimentology, fossil-Lagerstätten (exceptional preservations). This is the first time that the Taphos meeting is held in Italy. This volume collects the 58 abstracts presented during the Ferrara meeting.
