The article is an excerpt from the book by Natalia Jakubowa, untitled Irena Solska: brzemię niezwykłości (Irena Solska: The Burden of the Remarkability), a Polish translation of which is in preparation. The text is devoted to the artistic collaboration of Irena Solska and Stanisława Wysocka in the 1920s and 1930s. The author analyses the roles performed by Solska and Wysocka in the productions directed by Wysocka, comments on their artistic decisions and presents the resonance with which their performances were reflected in the judgements of contemporary critics. She draws attention to the feminist aspects of the work of both artists, as well as the psychological determinants of the choice of roles played by them.
