The impact of plant protection products on health and biodiversity continues to be confirmed. Among the latest studies, Ziesche et al in 2023 showed that, compared with 1995, 95% of insect abundance has disappeared in arable farming areas in Germany. This disappearance has an impact on the ecosystem services of regulation, which are no longer provided. On the other hand, the use of pesticides is showing its limits, notably with circumventions and reductions in effectiveness. Finally, for farmers, another difficulty is the withdrawals due to their impact on health and environment. For all these reasons, it is essential to experiment in order to propose alternatives, and this is the purpose of this symposium to present the results of the DEPHY EXPE 2 projects.
