The Forest Inventory showed a steady increase of the surface of French forests and volumes up for at least a century. This evolution is mainly due to natural and artificial reforestation, and a lower level of organic production levy. It is still noticeable in the last five years. The calculation of economically harvestable volumes in the availability study shows that this trend is likely to continue because of the difficulty of mobilizing certain areas or types of wood. If the total availability is close to organic production, the technical and economic availability is much lower than the latter. The estimate of the total availability is now specified by taking into account nvironmental and regulatory constraints. It will soon also take into account the willingness of the owners to sell by crossing with the land registry. Finally, Air Lidar will allow spatialize forest availability: this will improve the effectiveness of agents Forest mobilization.
