Abstract

The most recent studies on nematodes date from the last thirty years. As their detection requires expensive and specific analyzes, the observed damages are thus rarely attributed to their presence in the fields. As a result, their distribution over the territory, with few exceptions, remains poorly known. This project was therefore intended to update these studies in a new agronomical context linked with the increase in rapeseed surfaces for the production of biodiesel, the new guidelines related to the management of intercropping to meet the requirements of the Nitrates Directive and the need to reduce the use of chemical solutions in favor of the use of resistant varieties and / or tolerant. The species studied in this project are those that are harmful to beets, canola, durum wheat and corn. The main purposes of this project are: i) to estimate the effect of new cultures and intermediate crops on nematode populations, ii) to identify the methods used during the intercropping to limit the evolution of populations, iii) to build decision support systems. Although they sometimes need to be consolidated, the results give some new data on the distribution, biology and harmfulness of poorly known species. They also contribute to the development of an optimized management of resistant and / or tolerant varieties of intercropping and alternative control methods, to maintain these populations at levels which are consistent with the quantitative and qualitative requirements of the sector.
