An exploration of the concept that education is a universal human right which leads the author to propose a universal curriculum for everyone. Accepting cultural pluralism and multiple intelligences as facts of life, he discusses those areas of knowledge which are of most worth for human beings. He proposes a curriculum and form of pedagogy for the city and countryside, for modern and third world nations, for living life to its fullest as best we can in an imperfect and incomplete world on a planet we have to share.
