Human papillomavirus (HPV), the most common sexually transmitted infection globally, causes six cancers and costs 9.01 billion annually for HPV‑related diseases in the United States. Despite the vaccine’s proven safety and recommendation for adolescents aged 11–12, coverage remains low. Behavioral trials that meaningfully engage adolescents offer a critical strategy to improve vaccine acceptance, uptake, and ultimately reduce the long‑term health and economic burden of HPV. This study examined how adolescents have been engaged in behavioral intervention trials aimed at increasing HPV vaccination uptake or intention.
