The project is a Systematic Review assessing the conceptual transformation of Polish internet memes in scholarly literature. The core idea is to map the shift in academic discourse, investigating how Polish memes are analyzed — moving from being perceived primarily as a "text of culture" (like folklore or humor) to their function as a powerful "communication medium" or "medium of information". Our primary goal is to synthesize the current state of knowledge (stan badań) and identify specific research gaps (luki informacyjne). The review spans the Humanities (e.g., culture and religion studies) and Social Sciences (e.g., communication and media studies) across the period 2016–2025. The methodology adheres to a rigorous, transparent protocol (PRISMA), systematically searching global databases for publications focusing thematically on Polish memes, restricted to Open Access sources. The synthesis will use systematic coding, potentially utilizing Grounded Theory, to analyze conceptual framing and social/political contexts, integrating automation tools to enhance screening efficiency.
