L’article présente un buste féminin exceptionnel conservé au Musée Saint-Raymond de Toulouse. Il met en évidence ses caractéristiques majeures, qui permettent de le dater du deuxième quart du IIIe siècle ap. J.-C., rappelle les fonctions des représentations féminines à l’époque impériale, et expose la méthodologie qui conduit à plusieurs identifications, dont celle, privilégiée aujourd’hui, de l’impératrice Etruscilla. Abstract This paper presents an exceptional female bust in the Musée Saint-Raymond, Toulouse. It highlights its major characteristics, which allow it to be dated to the second quarter of the 3rd century AD, recalls the functions of female representations in the imperial era, and outlines the methodology that led to several identifications, including the one favored today, of the empress Etruscilla.
