Abstract

Field experiment was conducted at the College of Agriculture, Kabba, Kogi State, Nigeria, between May 2023 and February 2024 to study the growth and leaf yield of Kapok as affected by the application of poultry manure. The experimental treatments consisted of five rates of poultry manure (0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 t/ha). These were laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. Results of the study showed that application of poultry manure significantly (p < 0.05) influenced most of the growth traits and leaf yield assessed. Application of 15 t/ha of poultry manure gave the tallest plants in this study. Plants treated with 10 t/ha and 15 t/ha produced more leaves as well as all other characters assessed. Highest leaf yield (t/ha) was recorded from plants that received 15 t/ha of poultry manure in this investigation. The 15 t/ha of poultry manure is therefore recommended for better growth and leaf yield of Kapok in the study area.
