One of the most relevant trends that has been imposed in the teaching processes is the implementation of innovative methodological strategies that allow to enhance the motivation of students for learning. This is particularly relevant in areas of knowledge that have been developed through traditional methodologies, such as the teaching of history. This work presents a proposal for educational innovation for the teaching of historical content and skills related to the medieval period. For its design, an innovative approach has been used consisting of relating aspects dealt with in the iconography of the Middle Ages such as health and well-being, technological and energy improvements, renewable energy sources, or the anthropic use of the environment, with the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda. The result obtained is a didactic sequence applicable in the teaching of the didactics of History with teachers in training. This sequence has a double purpose: on the one hand, allows teachers in training to reinforce their knowledge of history, and on the other hand, it enables them to use similar innovative strategies in their future teaching performance.
