We shall verify the Kakeya (Nikodym) maximal operator KN, N≫ 1, is bounded on the variable Lebesgue space Lp(⋅)(ℝ2) when the exponent function p(⋅) is N-modified locally log-Hölder continuous and log-Hölder continuous at infinity.
