Abstract

Persistent patient distress in dermatology may continue despite objective clinical improvement. This Perspective argues that such distress often reflects uncertainty about how to interpret fluctuating disease trajectories rather than residual disease severity. Recognizing and addressing uncertainty as a clinical task may help align patient expectations and reduce dissatisfaction in chronic or relapsing skin disease.
