Abstract

Clinical Holding is a technique that is commonly used in the field of nursing to ensure a safe and controlled manner of delivering treatment by stabilizing the patient through physical holds or supports or assists. In dentistry, guiding a child's behavior for a successful treatment can be done through both pharmacological and non-pharmacological means. When the latter fails, before opting for the pharmacological modes, holding the child for stabilization is a sensitive technique that requires to be backed by evidence. This scoping review is an integrative collection of every published literature till 2021 that addresses clinical holding and that can draw relevance to pediatric dentistry.
