This is a systematic review of articles published between January 2016 and December 2021. A narrative synthesis was conducted, involving the description and summary of the results of included studies without the use of formal statistical techniques for combination. The results of the studies were reported qualitatively, highlighting the main trends, similarities, and differences among the studies. The research questions were "What is the impact of telehealth/telemedicine on A1c measures in patients with diabetes mellitus?" and "What telehealth/telemedicine strategies have been applied in the healthcare of patients with diabetes mellitus and what is their impact on glycemic control?" According to the PICOS method (12), the main characteristics of this systematic review were: 1. population: adult patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM1) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2); 2. intervention/exposure: use of telehealth/telemedicine strategies for glycemic control; 3. comparison: conventional care in diabetes versus care mediated by telehealth strategies added to conventional care; 4. outcome: impact on glycemic control (glycated hemoglobin; A1c); 5. study design: randomized controlled trials. All intervention groups maintained regular diabetes mellitus follow-up with physicians, nurses, and/or pharmacists.
