The establishment of the Scientific Society in Bydgoszcz, in 1959, which attracted the cultural elite of the city, was of great importance for the development and prestige of the region. The Society cooperated with the Pomaranian Philharmonic and some prominent scientists and artists. The article mentioned above discusses a series of scientific papers dedicated to music, which, unfortunately, are unaccessible for the time being. However, their contents is worth mentioning. They present interesting data concerning the history of music of that region, which could hardly be found in any manual, and might suggest that the musical life of smaller centres and towns was flourishing. The literary production of the Arts Committee, after its being reactivated, deals with the historical issues concerning musical education and current pedagogical research on musical culture broadly conceived.
