Reference document of tools, methods and knowledge repositories from research project for protecting water resources from pesticide contamination The stakeholders involved in the implementation of the Water Framework Directive (WFD) for limiting the diffuse water pollution caused by pesticides experience various difficulties. To solve them, a number of research projects have been ongoing for many years. To enable water resources managers to be aware about the current and forthcoming operational products of these researches, a survey was completed of the outputs of the projects, namely decision tools, methods, and data or knowledge repositories. The survey is now summarized in a reference document that classifies all products according to the stakeholder’s missions and methodological needs for protecting water resources from pesticide contamination. It allows to identify the products that answer a given management objective or to get information about a given product from a catalogue of product descriptions. The reference document also includes a qualitative analysis of the products that were surveyed. For protecting water bodies devoted to drinking, the survey shows that many research products concern the diagnosis of contamination and choice of corrective actions but only a few are devoted to the monitoring and evaluation of the action plans and to the involvement of stakeholders.
