Results from a study of four, enclosed mall-type, suburban, shopping centres in the Ottawa area are described. The study focuses on population densities in the mall area and in various types of stores. The percentages of male and female occupants and the number of people per car visiting the centre are also included. The purpose of the study is to provide information on occupant loads for designers and building regulation officials. Some of the data has been used in conjunction with a study of washroom use in one of the malls.
