Abstract

The article examines the meaning and role of ethnic values in intercultural interaction. The essence of the concept of ethnic values, ethnic identity, ethnic self-determination is revealed. It is noted that ethnic values determine the basis of interaction between ethnic groups in the context of interethnic relations in a multicultural society and are the basis of ethnic identity, ethnic self-determination. It was especially emphasized that ethnic self-awareness has a relatively independent character and is a condition for the formation of an ethnos, and also ensures national unity, culture, and language. Ethnic values play a decisive role in intercultural interaction, which is realized on the basis of a dialogue or conflict of cultures. It is concluded that in the modern world the construction of a multicultural space on the basis of intercultural mosaicity is possible only through intercultural interaction - the process of forming methods and forms of tolerant consciousness, thinking and behavior.
