Abstract

General information The maps in this record are the posterior mean and standard deviations for the stellar velocity field of Sco-Cen as published in Hutschenreuter et al. (https://arxiv.org/abs/2509.13607) Please note that these files are preliminary and might be updated upon acceptance of the above preprint! The latent samples and computational model will be published here upon acceptance of the manuscript. This will also allow the calculation of power spectrum and noise estimation posterior. Illustrations of the maps can be found at https://shutsch.github.io/scocendata.html. File Description The maps are published in hdf5 format, see https://docs.h5py.org/en/stable/index.html for details. All quantities are expressed in heliocentric Galactic Cartesian coordinates x, y, z on a 70 × 70 ×50 grid with voxel size 33 pc3, anchored at (xo, yo, zo) = (−5, −190, −65) pc. Vector fields will have the shape (3, 70, 70, 50), scalar fields (70, 70, 50). The velocity fields are expressed in km/s the barycentric reference frame, in order to a convert to a Sco-Cen frame subtract the field with (vx,sc, vy,sc, vz,sc) = (−6.2, −20.0, −5.4) km/s. The derivative fields are reference frame independent and in units of 1/Myr. The flow related files contains two hdf5-data sets called mean and std, containing the posterior mean and standard deviation, respectively. Additionally, we publish boolean stellar density based masks, which we use as a proxy for the boundary of Sco-Cen. See the paper for a detailed description on their definition.
