The article focuses on the professional advancement of Polish women who have achieved professional success in areas culturally reserved for men. Their experiences have been reconstructed using the narrative interview method and discussed in the light of J. Piekarski’s concept of social participation. The first part of the article presents the definition of “professional career“. Then, the author reconstructs the types of conditions for experiencing professional advancement and discusses them in the context of social participation that dominates in narratives.
