Abstract

In this work, we adapted an existing mathematical model (landsepi) to simulate collective deployment scenarios of downy-mildew resistant grapevine varieties in wine-growing regions. We first used this model to explore the effects of the potential coexistence of varieties with monogenic and polygenic resistance in simplified agricultural landscapes, a possibility now available to winegrowers. Then, we worked in the region of the PDO Buzet (south-western France) to co-construct, evaluate, and compare a set of deployment scenarios for the adoption of resistant grapevine varieties in line with the strategic vision of the wine co-operative "Nous, les vignerons de Buzet". Finally, these scenarios were evaluated for their effects on epidemic control, resistance durability, reduction of fungicide treatments and economic performance.
