Abstract

The article presents a research of the possibilities of secondary use of the regenerative product of mine self-rescuers containing potassium and sodium superoxides as a source of potassium fertilizers. Scientific work is devoted to the development of technologies for the disposal of toxic waste of hazard class 3. The accumulation of it aggravates the environmental situation in industrially developed regions such as Donbass. The laboratory experiments confirm the possibility of transforming the regenerative product into potassium compounds (hydroxide, carbonate), characterized by a high potassium content (up to 85 %) and suitability for use in agriculture. Methods for forming fertilizers in the form of briquettes with a prolonged dissolution period, ensuring a stable release of nutrients into the soil, are considered here. Despite the obtained results, limitations are identified related to the need for additional studies of the effect of residual components on the biosphere and an economic assessment of the industrial scalability of the proposed technology. The article addresses current problems of hazardous waste disposal and offers a potentially environmentally sustainable approach.
