We discuss charm meson-meson pair production recently observed by the LHCb\nCollaboration at \√(s) = 7 TeV in proton-proton scattering. We examine\ndouble-parton scattering (DPS) mechanisms of double c c production and\nfollowing cc \→ D0D0 hadronization as well as double g and mixed g\nc c production with gg \→ D0D0 and gc \→ D0D0\nhadronization calculated with the help of the scale-dependent KKKS08\nfragmentation functions. A new single-parton scattering (SPS) mechanism of gg\nproduction is also taken into consideration. Calculated differential\ndistributions as a function of transverse momentum pT of one of the\nD0 mesons, pair invariant mass MD0D0 and azimuthal angle\n\φD0D0 distributions are confronted with the measured ones. The\nmanifestation of the new SPS mechanisms with g \→ D0 fragmentation within\nthe scale-dependent fragmentation scheme change the overall picture suitable\nfor standard scale-independent fragmentation where only DPS cc \→ D0D0\nmechanism is present. Some consequences of the new mechanisms are discussed\n
