Research shows that although coulrophobia is present in children and adults, has cross-cultural characteristics and deserves due clinical attention as it is associated with significant comorbidities, psychological distress and impaired functioning, it is poorly documented in the biomedical literature. To prevent harmful and useless anxieties and fears during the performances of the clown doctors, it is considered necessary to know in depth the terms of the problem in order to deal with it adequately.
