Organisms are material entities within the natural world, exhibiting complex natural phenomena. Their essential characteristic lies in autonomy aimed at maintaining their own persistence and reproduction. This autonomy is demonstrated through active adaptation and regulation in response to the environment. Traditional definitions of organisms tend to focus on superficial biological activities, which fall short of fully capturing their essence. This paper approaches the definition of organisms from the perspectives of natural phenomena, material entities, and autonomy, providing a foundation for deepening the understanding of organismal systems and offering theoretical support for related scientific research.
