Lysippe, sculpteur contemporain d’Alexandre, fit une statue-portrait célèbre du conquérant, novatrice par rapport aux portraits de souverains antérieurs. Elle n’a pas été conservée mais l’article en dégage les aspects importants à l’aide de comparaisons avec des sculptures conservées et une peinture du Fayoum. Les attributs divers de la statue affirmaient le caractère héroïque d’Alexandre, sa légitimité comme conquérant et elle l’ancrait dans le monde égyptien. Abstract Lysippus, Alexander's contemporary sculptor, created a famous portrait statue of the conqueror, an innovative one compared to portraits of earlier rulers. The statue has not been preserved, but the article highlights its key features through comparisons with surviving sculptures and a Fayum painting. The statue's various attributes affirmed Alexander's heroic character and legitimacy as a conqueror, and anchored him in the Egyptian world.
