Objective: The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to assess the efficacy and safety of various corneal collagen cross-linking (CXL) protocols in treating corneal ectatic disorders, including keratoconus, pellucid marginal degeneration, and post-LASIK ectasia. We will evaluate clinical outcomes such as visual acuity, keratometry, and corneal thickness, as well as complications and adverse effects. Methodology: We will follow a predefined protocol for systematic searches in multiple databases (e.g., PubMed, Cochrane, Scopus) covering studies published in the last 20 years. Eligibility criteria include randomised controlled trials, clinical trials, observational studies, and case-control studies conducted in humans. Two independent reviewers will conduct the study selection, data extraction, and risk of bias assessment. A random-effects model will be primarily used to synthesise data, considering the heterogeneity expected among studies. Expected Outcomes: This review will provide comprehensive insights into the effectiveness of different CXL protocols, identify sources of heterogeneity in reported outcomes, and inform clinical decision-making and future research in corneal disease management. Registration and Dissemination: This protocol is registered with OSF and PROSPERO, and the findings will be disseminated through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
