Click to increase image sizeClick to decrease image size Additional informationNotes on contributorsGeoffrey GrimmettGEOFFREY GRIMMETT's preoccupation with things random was inspired by the teachings of John Hammersley and Dominic Welsh in Oxford, where he was an undergraduate from 1968 to 1971. After spending sixteen years in Bristol, he moved to Cambridge University in 1992 as professor of mathematical statistics. His research concerns primarily the theory of disordered spatial processes, particularly those arising in models of statistical physics. He is the author of several books including the textbook Probability and Random Processes, written with David Stirzaker. In his diminishing spare time, he plays music and hikes up and down mountains and canyons. His papers are available via www.statslab.cam.ac.uk/~grg/.
