This report from the Belgian Rare Birds Committee (BRBC) deals with 146 records (159 individuals) of rare birds of 58 species, subspecies or species complexes observed in Belgium in 2023. Some as yet unpublished earlier data are also included. 106 data were accepted in category A, 13 data were accepted in category E and 34 data were refused. With the observation of the first Ross’s Geese Anser rossii and Blackand-White Warbler Mniotilta varia for the country in 2023, the Belgian list (categories A and B) now includes 465 species. The Storm-petrel Hydrobates pelagicus and the Common Hooded Crow Corvus cornix have no longer been included in the species to be registered since 1 January 2024.
