With the new plans of the federal government, the speed of the energy transition should be significantly increased. This article deals with the question of which energy needs have to be covered in 2050 and what this means for the substitution of fossil fuels, for national electricity production, and for imports. The simplest possible models are used. The loss of accuracy is offset by a gain in transparency. Ultimately, the question arises whether the necessary measures can be implemented at all.
