A majority of the patients with malignant diseases is affected by consequences of cancer-related fatigue. Caused by specific disease-related symptoms as well as multiple side effects of tumor treatment far-reaching psychological and somatic consequences with impact on the social reintegration can arise. The diagnostic approach and the evaluation of severity of fatigue symptoms are described. The targeted anamnesis and practically applicable assessment instruments are necessary for an adequate socio-medical evaluation, both in terms of professional performance capability and with respect to severe disability and need of care.
