In the inheritance of my grandparents a program for an excursion of the „ Wiener Evangelische Schulverein“ to the Roman City Carnuntum was found. The journey was done by ship to Bad Deutsch Altenburg. Bad Deutsch Altenburg, Carnuntum, and Hainburg were visited. Deeper searching revealed two famous teachers in our family. Firstly, Dr. Carl Rothe, a teacher for geography and sciences, and secondly, his nephew, Dr. Karl Cornelius, a professor at a gymnasium, who also developed teaching methods for vocally disabled children. A brooch with an imprint of a coin from Mark Aurel is likely to have been bought at this occasion.
