The article examines the role of scientific and technological progress in the development of the construction industry, highlights the connection between scientific and technological progress and production activities with the innovation process, which is manifested in the introduction of new construction technologies. It is noted that concrete and reinforced concrete remain the most popular materials in construction, and significant efforts at the current stage of the industry development are aimed at improving the characteristics of concrete and expanding their areas of application, which is associated with the need to introduce innovations. It is substantiated that the economic efficiency of measures to improve the quality of reinforced concrete structures is assessed taking into account the payback of costs over the standard period determined by the payback coefficient of capital investments. The role of economic assessment of the quality of building materials is formulated, the manifestation of the socio-economic effect from improving the quality of building structures (creation of new jobs, increase in tax revenues, improvement of the quality of life of the population, reduction of transportation costs for business) is identified. Support measures aimed at increasing the durability of building structures are highlighted, including subsidies to companies using modern materials and technologies, tax incentives for investors and the development of construction standards taking into account the life cycle of objects. Measures of influence on factors hindering innovative development of the construction industry (state support, reduction of the Central Bank key rate, allocation of resources for creation of innovative investment infrastructure) have been defined. Keywords: economic efficiency, regional infrastructure, reliability, durability, economic assessment, capital investments, socio-economic development, operational reliability.
