Il contributo indaga i tratti distintivi del potere delle piattaforme digitali, valutandone la riconducibilità alla nozione di potere economico. L’obiettivo è verificare se i connotati di tale potere lo rendano qualitativamente differente rispetto a quello esercitato da operatori economici attivi in altri settori e se, in ragione di tali specificità, ne possano derivare effetti di condizionamento sul potere politico. Sono, infine, esaminati gli strumenti regolatori ed antitrust impiegati nel contesto europeo per fronteggiare il potere delle big tech, evidenziando sovrapposizioni e profili critici. The paper discusses the main features of the power exercised by digital platforms, assessing its traceability to the concept of economic power. It also seeks to investigate whether the characteristics of such power make it qualitatively different from one exercised by firms operating in other sectors, and particularly its potential repercussions on political power. Turning to remedies, the regulatory and antitrust tools employed in the European context to confront the power of big tech are finally reviewed, highlighting overlaps and critical issues.
