Abstract

The main contribution of this thesis is to investigate the incorporating skin and proximity effects in magnetic induction tomography (MIT) coils and present an improved model for the two-dimensional (2D) forward problem. To evaluate the performance of the improved method in possible biomedical applications, a 16 coils 2D MIT system is modeled, and the finite element method (FEM) is employed to solve the forward problem. Results show the difference between the induced voltages obtained from the early and improved method falls into the meaningful range in terms of achievable conductivity contrast from the improved one.
