Abstract

We present some graphical characterizations of positive definite symmetric quasi-Cartan matrices of Dynkin type \mathbbAn and \mathbbDn. Our proofs are constructive, purely graph theoretical, and almost self-contained in the sense that they rely on the classical inflations method only.
