Abstract

In Supplement No. 2 to the National Building code of Canada all low-density wood fibreboard finish materials, raw or coated are assigned a flame-spread classification (by the ASTM Tunnel Furnace Method) of "over 150". Supplement No. 5 to the Code as revised in December 1968, requires that "interior finishes, except for doors, shall have a flame spread rating of not more than 150". To broaden the available information on fibreboard materials, additional tests have been conducted and the correlation of the results among the three flame-spread test methods has been examined more thoroughly. This recent work is the subject of this brief note.
