Abstract

Cerebralvenousthrombosisisaveryrarebutseriouscomplicationofulcerativecolitis. Wereportthecaseof a child aged 7 years and 7 months, with atwo years history of ulcerative colitis. He was hospitalized for a severe attack of his disease. The evolution was marked bythe occurrence of convulsive status epilepticus on the third day of hospitalization due to cerebral venous thrombosis ofthe upper sagittal sinus and fron- tal cortical veins. He was treated by anticoagulant, with complete repermeabilisation afterthree months of treatment. No inherited thrombophilia was found. Chronic inflammatory bowel disease presents an in- creasedriskofthrombosisduetomultipleacquiredandinheritedriskfactorsthatwillneedtobesystema- tically investigated in patients with the disease.
