Abstract: This study aims to re-examine the history of the Touat region in southwestern Algeria during the period from [1956-1962], through a comprehensive analysis of available historical sources, whether Arab or foreign. The study seeks to correct colonial narratives that distorted the image of the region, highlighting its pivotal role in the resistance against French colonialism and identifying its contributions to the construction of the modern Algerian state. Through this study, we aim to present a new historical narrative that reflects the cultural and social diversity of the region and sheds light on its interaction with regional and international historical developments. Keywords: French Occupation; Algeria, Popular Resistance, Sahara, Scholars.
