Abstract

The effect of ion Implantation on the mobility of sodium ions in a commercial microscope slide glass was investigated in the temperature ränge 347 to 404 °C. The results show that several elements, especially arsenic, boron, lead, calcium or phosphorus strongly restrict sodium ion self diffusion. The degree of blocking depends on the energy and the dosage of the implanted ion. Heat treatment at > 400 °C largely reduces the blocking effect.
