Abstract

In summary, staged lavage reduced expected lethality in patients with peritonitis. Transverse incision caused wound-healing disorders and fascial dehiscence less often. Therefore, the indication for transverse laparotomy should be generous, as this form of treatment is advantageous in case of peritonitis.
