Abstract

The “European Association for Health Information and Libraries” (EAHIL) was founded in Bristol in 1987 and is uniting 1,400 librarians and information professionals working in medical and health science libraries from 30 different European countries. In 2015 the EAHIL Workshop was hosted in Edinburgh, together with the “International Conference of Animal Health Information Specialists” (ICAHIS) and the “International Clinical Librarian Conference” (ICLC). The workshop sessions were designed to support librarians and information professionals in their daily work and to support the improvement of library and information services in medical and health science libraries. The event also intended to enhance understanding of research methods and to encourage the delegates to conduct and publish good quality research themselves. The parallel workshop sessions dealt with themes like communication, qualitative and quantitative research methods, systematic reviews, and research data management. Besides offering continuing professionial education courses, the EAHIL workshops and conferences are valuable opportunities for meeting colleagues, for networking, sharing and cooperation.
