The objective of this paper is to synthetically assess the vulnerability of small island economies (SIEs) to the consequences of climate change. We use a composite indicator of physical vulnerability to climate change (PVCCI), developed at Ferdi, which we apply to a large sample of 250 economies, including 100 sovereign or affiliated SIEs. Our results show that SEIs are structurally exposed to the consequences of climate change but in a heterogeneous way. An illustration of the results is given on the southwest Indian Ocean SEIs.
