The article discusses the main aspects of monitoring regional integration processes using the example of the Donetsk People’s Republic as a new subject of the Russian Federation. The features of monitoring the development of the region, which need to quickly adapt to modern conditions, are analyzed. The experience of introducing a free economic zone in the Republic of Crimea and promising industries of the Donetsk People's Republic is compared. Such an approach can identify important development factors that can influence the overall development plan of the region. The article also discusses the main strategic directions for the development of the region’s economy, directions for improving the investment potential and personnel security of the new subject of the Russian Federation. Due to the analysis of management decision tools at the regional level, the main goals and methods of monitoring in new regions have been formed. The features of the Frontal Strategy of the Russian Federation, which should be taken into account when forming the regional strategy of the Donetsk People’s Republic, are studied. Regulatory elements in the process of monitoring the development of the region will allow you to quickly intervene in the plans of the region. Therefore, this important tool for managing the region should be worked out taking into account the stage of the integration process.
