This project presents a completed systematic review that evaluates the impact of Process-Oriented Hospital Design (POHD) on hospital-wide organizational performance. The review is grounded in the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) framework, which assesses performance across four key domains: financial, customer, internal processes, and learning and growth. The study addresses a critical gap in the literature by synthesizing empirical evidence on how POHD, rooted in Business Process Reengineering (BPR) can overcome the limitations of traditional siloed hospital structures. It integrates validated dimensions of process orientation and benchmarks performance outcomes against the U.S.-based CMS Hospital Quality Initiative. A total of six high-quality studies were included, spanning diverse methodological approaches and geographic contexts. The review employed qualitative content analysis and the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT 2018) to ensure methodological rigor. Sixteen dimensions of process orientation were identified and the associated performance measures are mapped to POHD, forming a comprehensive framework for hospital redesign.
