French dairy farming, of which 80% of its production comes from lowland systems combining livestock and crops (fodder maize and cereals), is responsible for a significant proportion of pesticide use in agriculture. Reducing the use of pesticides is therefore an important environmental, societal and economic issue. The experimental set-up developed within the framework of the Ecophyto Expé DEPHY LAIT OUEST project consisted of testing crop protection systems that are economical in pesticides within a network of three experimental farms in the West of France: Derval (44), Trévarez (29), La Blanche-Maison (50). These experimental dairy farms, representative of the main types of dairy systems, exert different potential pressure of pesticides and environmental footprint according to their production systems and their respective pedoclimatic contexts. The environmental impacts of new practices and new cropping systems, aimed at optimizing the phytosanitary protection of crops, but also at meeting fodder requirements of current livestock systems, are analyzed to judge their relevance. A global multicriteria assessment was used to analyze a set of environmental indicators, including TFI (Treatment Frequency Intensity)
