The transition of food systems towards more sustainable practices today questions the way in which socio-economic actors design their innovations. This synthesis aims to explore the barriers and levers to the design of coupled innovations (CI) between agricultural production and food processing. This form of innovation is characterized by strong coordination of actors to innovate and notably involves the definition of a common ambition and increased knowledge sharing. During a multi-actor workshop, six economic, regulatory, technical and cognitive barriers that could hinder the emergence of CI were formulated. In response, three levers were proposed. These outings allowed us to carry out a reflective activity on current research work.
