This project met a demand of companies producing young horticultural plants and aimed at improvingsanitary quality of plants in the first steps of the supply chain. The strategy included two steps: 1) toestablish a document on the main diseases of ornamentals in order to get better knowledge of their pathogens, and to write guidelines for good agricultural practices in these companies; 2) to harmonize diagnosis methods through evaluation of efficacy of detection methods targeting Xanthomonas campestris pv. pelargonii (Xcp). The study included a ring test among laboratories based upon common samples sent to all participating laboratories.
