This study presents an analysis of the experience of using the concept of «lean production» in the construction industry abroad. The publications analyzed the tools, results, problems associated with the implementation and application of «lean production» at construction companies. The mechanism of individual tools is considered. The main problems in the implementation and use of these tools in construction are identified. Examples of improving the activities of a construction company using the tools of the concept of «lean production» are considered. A comparison of domestic and foreign practices of organizing production in construction is carried out. Criticism of the concept of «lean production» is carried out. Among the presented tools, many are already used in Russian practice. Based on the results of the critical analysis, recommendations for Russian engineers on the organization of construction are developed. The recommendations are presented in the form of a schematic model of the production system of construction production, developed taking into account the use of the positive properties of the concept identified in foreign experience. These recommendations should help Russian construction companies increase labor productivity while reducing the negative impact of implementing this approach.
